Hello Phil111A students,
Since we will not have a chance to hold tutorial sessions this year, Kijin and I thought that it would be helpful to maintain a blog where we are able to publish some of our thoughts and advice on the lectures and material that Prof. Sismondo covers in class. The blog format seems to work well because it will give us a chance to put our thoughts out there, and gives you a chance to post feedback to us. The idea will not be to provide further exegesis of the text, but rather to highlight themes that we feel are important, give technical advice on writing papers, and even give some advice on becoming a student of philosophy. We will also use this space to talk about some of the common issues that have come up in the course of us marking your work. There will not be any information posted here that is absolutely essential to the course, it is simply meant to be a forum for us to share our thoughts with you.
Neither Kijin or I are privy to any quiz information, test or essay questions, or anything of that sort. Please keep in mind the standard disclaimer that the views expressed here are those of Kijin and myself, and do not necessarily reflect the views of Prof. Sismondo, Queen's, or anyone else for that matter. We are here to help, and we can only do so through our own opinions and experience.
Feel free to bookmark us, and check back weekly for updates. It should be a great year, we are certainly looking forward to it.
